History of South Florida AALNC Chapter

Bernadette Morgan, motivated by our National Organization and with the support and encouragement of the late Steve Billings, Esquire, endeavored to gather a group of like-minded nurses working in the legal profession, and offer a venue in which ideas could be shared and professional growth could take place. The first meetings took place in 1993, at a law firm in Hollywood, Florida, with as few as five or six in attendance. Through group perseverance, the result of these meetings was the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter of the AALNC, officially chartered in 1994. The founding members included; Bernadette Morgan, Lisa Kaufman, AnnMarie Irving, and Rebecca Shilling.

In 1994, under the guidance of Rose Clifford and Maureen Orr, the Miami Chapter was founded. Both chapters functioned independently until the year 2000, when they officially merged to become the South Florida Chapter of the AALNC. AALNC approved the South Florida Chapter as the chapter representing all the counties in South Florida. In 2004, our Chapter celebrated it's 10th Anniversary.
